Both McCain and Obama realize how ethnic and racial loyalities can translate to massive votes, yet both will gloss over explicit talk on race with calculated ”big-tentism”. Though each will occassionaly venture into racial identity or accusation, more often than not they will utilize vague references. Nonetheless, the subtext of race is there. This was most apparent when newspapers across the country recently declard Obama’s official nomination at the Democrat Convention, “hisory in the making”. In what sense? “Obama is the first time nominee of one of the two major parties who is black”.
For the Left it was as if everything that has transpired in America’s history was solely in preparation for Obama’s coming. Furthermore, it is quite amazing how quick the media apologizes and covers up where and when Obama makes explicitly or derogatory racial statements.
Obama is fully aware of the demographic and cultural forces which are propelling and protecting his bid for president, and he plans to exploit these trends. Obama’s campaign manager, David Plouffe, explained the Democrat strategy to “exploit shifting demographics and the enthusiasm of black voters for Obama to compete in states that traditionally vote Republican in presidential elections, such as Virginia, North Carolina, or Georgia”. “Shifting Demographics” means states where whites are loosing numbers.
Finding explicit racial statements by Obama is not easy. Obama realizes he can win the election if he maintains a post-racial message of ”reconciliation”, and, in fact, this has been his allure amongst liberal whites. Yet Obama’s racial allusions are frequent, though hidden behind an ideology victimhood and guilt. However, behind ‘victim status’ is an subtext of ‘white oppressor’. Obama’s supporters, of course, are less veiled.
Below I hope to catalogue the more explicit statements of Obama.
”Nobody really thinks that Bush or McCain have a real answer for the challenges we face, so what they’re going to try to do is make you scared of me. You know, he’s not patriotic enough. He’s got a funny name. You know, he doesn’t look like all those other presidents on those dollar bills, you know..”
And, though the press and democrat campaign team will suppress the intent behind such strategums, in his book, ”Dreams of My Father”, Obama’s leftwing, anti-white bias is all too clear. Conservative activists should have these quotes on hand when confronting media or lemmings. Below are revealing quotes showing Obama’s disdain for himself and whites:
“I ceased to advertise my mother’s race at the age of 12 or 13, when I began to suspect that by doing so I was ingratiating myself to whites”
“(I) never emulate white men and brown men whose fates didn’t speak to my own. It was into my father’s image, the black man, son of Africa, that I’d packed all the attributes I sought in myself, the attributes of Martin and Malcolm, DuBois and Mandela.”
“Malcolm X’s autobiography seemed to offer something different, His repeated acts of self-creation spoke to me, the blunt poetry of his words, his unadorned insistence on respect, propmised a new and uncompromising order, martial in its discipline forged through sheer force of will”
“The person who made me proudest of all, though, was [half brother] Roy Actually, now we call him Abongo, his Luo name, for two years ago he decided to reassert his African heritage. He converted to Islam.”
“There were enough of us on campus (black students) to constitute a tribe, and when it came to hanging out many of us chose to function like a tribe, staying close together, traveling in packs,” he wrote. “It remained necessary to prove which side you were on,to show your loyalty to the black masses, to strike out and name names”
“The emotion between the races could never be pure, even love was tarnished by the desire to find in the other some element that was missing in ourselves. Whether we sought out our demons or salvation, the other race would always remain just that: menacing, alien, and apart”
“I had grown accustomed, everywhere, to suspicions between the races.”
“(This was upon leaning that some of his grandfather’s people worked for whites)”‘ugly words flashed across my mind, uncle tom, collaborator, House N—-’
“I found a solace in nursing a pervasive sense of grievance and animosity against my mother’s race.”
Is Obama racist? In “Dreams of my Father” Obama demonstrates incredible angst, confusion, and resentment for his mixed racial identity. It is doubtful Obama has never succeeded reconciling race in his own mind, so how better could he reconcile the country?
Furthermore, Obama met his wife, Michelle, while struggling with being ‘black’ in Princeton. Michelle Obama is a self-described ‘black separatist’, and she may very well be our next first lady. It is amazing how Americans fear and quickly denounce white nationalists, but are willing to turn over the headship of oour country to confessing black seperatists. Here’s Michelle in her own words:
“I have found that at Princeton, no matter how liberal and open-minded some of my white professors and classmates try to be toward me, I sometimes feel like a visitor on campus; as if I really don’t belong. Regardless of the circumstances under which I interact with whites at Princeton, it often seems as if, to them, I will always be black first and a student second.”
“There was no doubt in my mind that as a member of the black community, I am obligated to this community and will utilize all of my present and future resources to benefit the black community first and foremost.”
“What we have learned over this year is that hope is making a comeback. It is making a comeback. And let me tell you something — for the first time in my adult lifetime, I am really proud of my country. And not just because Barack has done well, but because I think people are hungry for change.”
What kind of change??? Evidently, ’social justice’ for blacks. But the Left does not consider black liberation ”exclusivist”. Leftist ideology since the sixties has identified black liberation as the ‘vanguard’ for a larger anti-imperialist socialism. Therfore, black liberation= universal freedom. We can conclude that socialists will use any mechanism necessary to collectivize society, and they have found the new demographic trends the most effective catalyst for “change”.
In his published book, Dreams From My Father, Obama clearly states that he wishes to fulfill his father’s legacy. In 1965 (July) the senior Obama outlined these dreams writing an article for The East African Journal, titled, “Problems Facing Our Socialism”. The article described what Mr. Obama Sr. called, “African Socialism”, advocating amongst other things a complete expropriation and redistributation of white-owned farmland in Kenya, unlimited taxation, and stiff regulation of white free enterprise. Of course this program was adopted in Zimbabwae, and we’ve seen the results.
For more evidence on Obama’s New Left racism, see this National Review article:
Obama’s AfroCentric Backbone of Support
Obama signals the first among many progressive candidates in our post-colonial, globalist century who will ultimately make policy and guide government. Of course, post-civil rights America is a country where whites will ever become a smaller minority with many grievances held against them by people of color. Thus, Obama can expect plenty of allies within the plebicite who taste blood. Nor will the so-called sin of racism ever find a terminous point. According to Julia Bond, former NAACP chairperson, ”An Obama presidency would not mark the end of racism, though it may be a high water point in race relations.” Thus, reparative politics will only intensify as demographics shift.
